One would need proof of course, in <noindex>order</noindex> to deduce these things. And tons of evidences were then gathered. These evidences convey that humans who lived a long, long time ago already had sufficient knowledge in the basic processes of homemade wine making. If we ask them now “how do you make wine?” they will tell us that they did so at their very own homes and backyards, using the grapes they picked from their own vineyards.

“How do you make wine?”

The following will tell you many details:

- Georgia and Iran were the two regions where early evidences of wine making were first found. The evidences date back to 6000-5000 B.C.
- In Macedonia and Europe, there were evidences dug up by archeologists depicting that people 6,500 years ago already had knowledge in wine making.
- Ceremonies were the center of life among the Egyptians. True enough, there have been paintings on ancient tombs and walls depicting wine making as being included in their rituals and ceremonies.
- In China, evidences of wine making among the Chinese trace back to 2000-1000 B.C.

The diets of the classical Greeks and Romans were not complete without at least a glass of wine. This is very essential in their meal plans and couldn’t actually eat without being served a glass of it. They make sure that this is the case because they were very proud of the technology they have discovered at that time. This technology I am referring to is what they called the Wine Press technology. This technology particularly made wine making very simple, easy and fast for them. “How do you make wine?” They used it to produce wine from various kinds of grapes, it helped them create various techniques in land growing and made them become creative in barrel making, wine storage and shipments.

We ask them again, “How do you make wine?” We all know that a time came called the fall of the Roman Empire. When this happened, the Catholic Church imbibed their tradition and incorporated wine in their ceremonies particularly in the celebration of the holy mass. The use of wine as a symbol of the blood of Christ is a high point in the Catholics’ Eucharistic celebration. Wine then became a necessity for them which brought about the spread of wine use sometime in the 15th century. This is the case for the Catholics. For other religion like Islam, use of any alcohol was forbidden unless it was for healing or remedies.

During the prehistoric times, there were little or no evidence at all as to wine making. “How do you make wine?” Archeologists only speculated that prehistoric people also concocted their own homemade wine from wild grapes and fruits and eventually led to other evidences in the early times.

With these things, we can say that it is indeed quite hard to pinpoint where wine making really started. Evidences point to all sorts of different directions. Some say it originated from the vastness of the African continent while others point to the huge lands of South and Central Asia. We can never really know for sure. What we can be sure of is that our contemporary or current wine making activities did stem from the ancient Greeks’ tradition. This is because the grapes being used in modern day Greece are similar to those used in the ancient Greek period.

The main thing that you need to know when it comes to wine storage is to place your bottles on their side somewhere relatively cool and free from direct light. However, learning a little more than the basics is advisable, and that’s what we’ll look at now.

Temperature is an important factor when you’re dealing with wine. Wine should ideally be stored between 50-60 degrees farenheit, although a range of 45-65 degrees farenheit is considered OK. A lower, colder temperature causes the aging process to slow down, preventing the wine from aging properly. A higher, warmer temperature causes premature aging (not in a good way).

The worst thing that you can do to your wine is subject it to varying temperatures – a steady temperature at either acceptable extreme being better than subjecting it to large variances within the ideal temperature range. The temperature should never fluctuate more than 5 degrees a day; this is especially important for red wines, which are more susceptible to damage from temperature than white wines.

Humidity is also important as, unless it’s properly maintained, it can cause the cork to dry out, and this allows air to come into contact with the wine (which damages it). You want to aim for a humidity level of around 70 – 80%, and can purchase a hygrometer to track this.

A wine cellar is the ideal place for storing wine because it maintains the optimal humidity and temperature; however, they aren’t practical for most people because of their size and cost. If a wine cellar isn’t practical for you, place your bottles in a garage or basement to achieve similar conditions. Making some space in either and purchasing a wine rack and temperature / humidity gauge are highly recommended if you intend on storing more than a few bottles of wine at a time.

Champagne glasses are increasingly becoming popular for some special occasions. For instance, in the event that you want to use them for your wedding party or some other important dinner, you will definitely like the excitement and value they will add to the occasion. It is also important to state that they can appear expensive if certain things are not put into consideration when purchasing them.

The first thing to consider has to do with identification of what your interests are. This is because of the fact that many styles are currently available on our various markets. For instance, you may want to know of the ones with the fluted edge. The name depicts the shape of a flower petal or some kind of wide ripples.

Another thing you may be interested to know is that the champagne glasses also come in both plastic as well as glass. In most cases, the cheap flute types are known to be made of plastics. What actually happens is that apart from being in one piece, there is also the possibility of assembling them by attaching the glass itself to the stem.

When the need arises, one of the best approaches you can adopt to get an affordable product is by buying them in bulk and not in individually. What is fundamental is that irrespective of the type chosen, they will most likely serve the purpose you want. It is also worth knowing that when the expected guests is small and doesn’t require bulk purchase, you should then prepare to pay a bit more as they are usually priced per each glass. There are many places one can get cheap champagne glasses to <noindex>buy</noindex>.

Apart from the glassware out there, you will also likely have one at a liquor <noindex>shop</noindex> near you. At any place you consider, it will be prudent on your part to consider the various styles and designs available. Feel free to compare the prices from as many shops as you can. You will most definitely get the one that meets your budget. Don’t forget that some can be more expensive especially if found at some upscale departments.

Another useful tip about cheap champagne glasses has to do with buying them from the local and party stores especially close to holiday periods. Checking online can also be great idea since it can even be more convenient and hassle-free.

Like all other fine things in life, nice champagne needs to be treasured. Getting the best out of a glass of champagne can be a romantic moment which could help you relax after a stressful day. Imagine pouring a bottle of champagne and it spills all over you especially into disposable champagne glasses.

A good starting place is with perfectly neat and fine stemmed disposable champagne glasses. One which has fingerprint and water spots would be improper. They should always be in good condition. You can do this by washing it in a spotless towel after using it. The glass should also be of the right size most especially between eight and ten ounces to enable sufficient room for swirling your champagne. It should have a stem as it helps to prevent the content from getting heated up. Flute type disposable champagne glasses are good for sparkling wines as it provides a point for the bubbles to rise. Tulip glasses are good for red wine. Other glasses of the same type that narrow at the rim are recommended for white wine so that the chill will be conserved. If your glass has been selected then next would be the opening of the bottle.

Please select a champagne opener you are comfortable with. There are different types of the opener. The cork puller type where there are two slender pieces of metal that slide down into the bottle on either side of the cork and will in a way promote the pulling of the cork. The second type is the corkscrew pull type which ranges from the simple type most waiters use to the wearisome wing corkscrew, and then to the modern style corkscrew. There is another type which entails pumping air into the wine bottle to power out the cork.

After doing so well to open the champagne then it comes to the real business of pouring it. If probable allow the champagne to breathe in the bottle after opening before pouring. Then hold the bottle over the middle of the glass and pour straight into the centre not on the sides except the champagne is the sparkling type. Make sure you fill the disposable champagne glass to only three quarters full to give the champagne room for its full scent to be captured. Now that you have just mastered how to pour the champagne just sit back and enjoy.

If you remember your elementary chemistry before, a simple mathematical formula has been devised which helps determine the levels of alcohol content of any given alcoholic beverage. Please restudy this formula below:

1.6 x % alcohol x oz. of liquid

Let’s say you have an alcoholic drink that is about 5 oz. and which has 12% alcohol. We use the above formula to know how much carbs it contains. Therefore:

1.6 x 12 x 5 = 96

This clearly shows that the 5 oz. of alcoholic beverage you’re drinking which has a 12% alcohol will yield 96 calories.

It is important to take note that the calories you get here did not come from the sugar content of the alcoholic drink but from the alcohol itself, meaning, from the fermented sugars. The keyword here is the word “fermented” because once it’s fermented, it has already undergone a chemical process and therefore is no longer the simple sugar that it was. Furthermore, aside from the calories, there are also traces of other nutrients like protein. As for saturated fats and fat, it actually has none and the company would usually just put 0.0 grams of saturated fats and 0 grams of fat. This is another proof that there are no carbs in wine. Wine is just primarily water and alcohol.

At this day and age, people are always concerned about having the right diet. Because of this consciousness, they come to think that red wines offer less carbs since they tend to taste more bitter and less sweet. Again, this is not true. There are no carbs in wine. Even red wine. Plus, the red color or dark color that is characteristic of red wines is due to the skin of the grapes that was present during the process of fermentation. This helps bring a thicker and richer quality to the wine. On the other hand, the bitterness comes from the tannins used and not from the lack of sugar in the ingredients, because honestly, fermentation won’t happen in the first place without the sugar content. For white wines, this just means that the grape skins were taken out while the process of fermentation was taking place. Less tannin was also used in <noindex>order</noindex> for the sweetness to come out rather than the tannic taste.

It’s all very simple actually. Wine production happens when sugar feeds on the yeast in the process called fermentation where carbon dioxide and alcohol are created. You can see this in any wine making instruction book or recipe that you may have. It’s a basic principle in all the wine making processes, whether it be red or white wine that you are trying to make. So enjoy and have feast with your wine. Don’t mind about the calories much. There are no carbs in wine. It’s a pretty healthy and safe drink when taken in moderation.

Wine is an alcoholic drink made by fermenting the grape juice with the help of various kinds of yeast. The yeast tends to absorb the sugar present in the grape juice and converts the same into alcohol. Wine is a special, natural and old alcoholic drink which is being consumed and practiced since ancient times.

Wine is also said to be an important drink during special Christian and Jewish occasions such as Eucharist. It is said that the wine was first produced in Iran and Georgia. Wine is also an important beverage in cuisines and is used as a flavoring agent in most of the recipes. Wine is also used as an appetizer during meals and therefore each sip of a wine will help to enrich your appetite. Wine contains about 10% to 20% alcohol depending upon the process of fermentation. The quality of the wine totally depends upon its age and therefore older the wine, the better is its fermentation and quality.

There are wide varieties of wine and each of them has its own flavor and taste. The most famous, special and royal wines are Barbera, Cabernet Sauvigon, Chardonnay, Riesling and Sangiovese. Barbera wine is made from Barber grapes which are mostly cultivated in warm coastal regions. It has a strong cherry flavor and an intense red colored appearance. Cabernet Sauvigon wine is produced from Cabernet grapes which are mostly grown in cool and damp climate regions. It has a consistent herbal flavor and an intense purple colored appearance.

Chardonnay wine is produced from chardonnay grapes that can be cultivated in any regions and any climate. This wine appears in white color and has a rich and pleasing flavor and taste. Riesling wine is made from Riesling grapes that are mostly grown in the cooler regions. It has a white color appearance, low alcohol content, fruity and flowery taste and flavor. Sangiovese wine is produced from sangiovese grapes which are mostly cultivated in the Tuscany regions of Italy. It has a dark red appearance and a plum or cherry like taste and flavor.

There are many other types of wine that has pleasant taste and flavor. Wine can not only be produced from grapes but also from other fruits such as cherries, berries, pineapple, apple, melons etc. It’s flavor, appearance, taste and quality depends upon the nature of fermentation. Preparation of wine seems to be very simple and easy; therefore anyone can prepare it by following certain techniques and instructions thus making its flavor, quality and taste pleasant and appetizing.

Wine is alcoholic and highly acidic in nature and therefore it should be consumed in small quantity. Large intake of wine can lead to adverse health problems especially cardiovascular problem. The research shows that red wine is much safer than white wine as it contains few quantities of polyphenols and Resveratrol which are type of antioxidants that help to maintain proper health and fitness of our body. White wine should be consumed in a very small quantity as it contains harmful compounds which can cause serious health problems if consumed in large quantity.

The holidays are upon us once again and it is time to come up with a gift idea that will be a hit with family and friends. In this article, we take a look at the top wine gift for 2009 that will not break the old bank account.

Wine is often thought of us as an expensive hobby. While it can be, it doesn’t have to be. How many of us have enjoyed the guilty pleasure of a quality $2 buck chuck bottle of wine recently? Come on, admit it! Regardless, wine doesn’t have to be an expensive endeavor and neither do wine-oriented gifts. Let’s take a look at a real winner this year.

The single hottest wine gift this year is the Nomad Wine Tasting Journal from NomadJournals.com. The company usually makes writing journals for outdoor activities like travel, hiking, bird watching and so on. This year, it came out with the wine journal and it is a must have for wine lovers.

The wine journal is unique because it isn’t just blank. The designer, Todd Hakanson, has thought through the journal and come up with something that takes into account all the joy of wine tasting. Instead of turning pages right to left, the pages go top to bottom. This is because a space is provided on the top page for you to paste in the label from the wine you are drinking. You just soak the bottle in some warm water for five minutes and the label will slide off. You just place it on the page, apply a bit of pressure and the label glue will firm up again.

The bottom page is also well thought out. It provides you with a number of blank lines to record your impression of the wine in question. Can’t think of anything? No problem. There are also question queries provided to get you moving on subjects such as the body of the wine, age, price, who you were drinking with and so on. The purpose of the page is to create a record of your experience and it accomplishes this very nicely.

So, what does it cost? Well, there are three choices. You can get just the journal for $15. As a second option, you can <noindex>buy</noindex> it with a cloth case to protect it from the inevitable wine spills for $27. For an additional $2 bucks, you can upgrade from a cloth to leather case.

In following directions for “how to homemade wine” It is important to note that Ribena is a perfect syrup which is famous for fermenting ‘must’ made from fruits. In knowing the how to homemade wine, wine makers use this to get extra special results. The rate to add it would be one to two bottles per gallon. When making wines from dried fruits, adding one or two bottles of Ribena per gallon would all the more improve the flavor and quality of the wine. Similarly, when making wines from fresh fruits that give a red wine, one or two bottles or Ribena could be added to make up for other fruits. This way, you may disregard the SO2 preservative because the amount in the Ribena will not be enough to stop fermentation, but it would be best to add it at the vigorous fermentation stage-during the first ten days.

If you recommend to use Ribena in your how to homemade wine recipes, bear in mind that each bottle contains approximately eight ounces of sugar, so you should reduce accordingly the amount of sugar in whichever recipes you are using. Undiluted Ribena is not readily fermentable, because it contains just over seven pounds of sugar per gallon and is preserved with 350 parts per million SO2-either of which is capable of preventing fermentation.

Obviously, our aim when following the how to homemade wine directions with Ribena will be to reduce the amount of sugar to about three and a half pounds per gallon, by using half Ribena and half water. In doing this, we shall reduce the SO2 preservative to around 175 parts per million. This amount is unlikely to prevent fermentation, though it could do so.

***All water used in the process was first boiled and allowed to cool naturally.

STAGE 1

Two bottles of Ribena were diluted with twice the amount of water (four Ribena bottles full). Yeast in the form of a nucleus was added and the mixture allowed to ferment for ten days.

STAGE 2

After ten days’ fermentation, two bottles of Ribena and one bottle of water were added and the mixture allowed to ferment for a further ten days.

STAGE 3

After a total of twenty days’ fermentation, two bottles of Ribena and one more bottle of water were added. Fermentation was then allowed to carry on to completion, taking, in all, three months. The result was a good, round wine flavored delightfully but not too strongly of fresh blackcurrants.

At stage 3 it was borne in mind that, while most of the SO2 would have been driven off during fermentation by adding those last two bottles, it was, in effect, bringing the total SO2 content up to 175 parts per million. Fearing that the yeast might be just a little weakened at this stage, it was decided to drive off the SO2 in the last two bottles by raising the temperature of the to 70 deg. C.

If you want to include this in your how to homemade wine recipes and have no suitable thermometer, stand the bottles in a saucepan of water and during your how to homemade wine endeavor, slowly raise the temperature until the Ribena in the bottles has increased in volume enough to reach the rims of the bottles. The temperature is high enough to drive off the SO2 and the heat should be cut off at once. The caps of the bottles must be removed before heating. The whole of fermentation was carried out in narrow-necked bottles plugged with cotton wool, fermentation locks being fitted after ten days. Racking was not carried out until one month after the last addition. Monthly racking followed until fermentation ceased. Even at this early stage the wine was nice to drink, but it had improved vastly at the age of six months.
